Devices
Register a physical biometric device, connect it to SigmaTurn, and push your employee list onto it.
Devices is where you register each physical fingerprint or face-scan reader and connect it to SigmaTurn. A device stays Pending until it actually checks in for the first time, after which it shows Online with its IP address and last-online time — and goes back offline automatically if it hasn't checked in for 20 minutes.
Adding a device
- 1Go to Biometric → Devices and click Add Biometric Device.
- 2Give it a Device Name (e.g. "ZKTeco iClock, Anviz VF30, etc.") and its Serial Number — find the serial on the device itself under Menu → System Info → Device Info.
- 3Save. The device appears in the list with a Pending status and a "Waiting for Device Connection" banner.
- 4Open the Device Configuration Guide and enter the listed settings on the physical device — this is what actually gets it talking to SigmaTurn.
- 5Perform one clock in/out on the physical device. That establishes the connection; status flips from Pending to Online automatically.
- 6Click Push Employees To Devices to open Sync All Employees, tick who to push, and Confirm — this loads your employee list onto the device's own memory so it can recognize them at the door. Re-syncing an employee ID overwrites whatever was already on the device for that ID.
Device Configuration Guide
This walkthrough is specifically tested against ZKTeco devices that support ADMS mode (confirmed on the ZKTeco K40 Pro) — it may not work on other biometric hardware. On the device, go to Menu → Communication → Cloud Server Settings and set:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Server Mode | ADMS |
| Enable Domain Name | ON |
| Server Address | Your SigmaTurn address |
| Enable Proxy Server | OFF |
| HTTPS | ON (depends on your server) |
Key fields
- Device Name, Serial Number, Device IP, and Last Online
- Status — Pending or Online
- Push Employees To Devices — shows each employee as Configured or Not Configured on the target device(s)
A device that hasn't checked in for 20 minutes is automatically marked offline.
A device's clock/timezone is set automatically from your company's configured timezone when it connects.
Push Employees To Devices warns you upfront that pushing overwrites any existing data already on the device for that employee ID.
A newly added device shows Pending and a "Waiting for Device Connection" message until you perform one clock in/out on the physical device — that's what establishes the connection and flips it to Online.
On the device itself, under Menu → System Info → Device Info.
Employees Mapping records which Biometric User ID belongs to which employee, so incoming punches get matched correctly. Push Employees To Devices sends your employee list onto the device's own memory so it can actually recognize a fingerprint or face at the door — they work together, not as alternatives.
